When a sheet has ambiguous marks, the system flags it and routes it to a review queue where an evaluator sees the scanned image alongside the detected marks. The evaluator makes a judgment call for each flagged question, and the system records their decision in the audit log. Sheets without ambiguities grade fully automatically.

Yes. Answer key configuration allows you to define sections within a single answer sheet, each with its own scoring parameters: marks per correct answer, negative marking rate (including zero for no penalty), and whether multiple correct answers are accepted. The system applies the correct rules per section automatically during scanning. This is common for competitive entrance exams and professional certification tests that mix question types on a single paper.

Student identification uses either a printed barcode on the answer sheet or a roll-number bubble grid that the student fills in manually, you choose which method during template design. If a barcode scan fails due to print quality or damage, the system falls back to the bubble grid. If both are unreadable, the sheet is flagged for manual identification. Institutions running high-speed scanners typically prefer barcodes because they eliminate the roll-number bubbling step for students and reduce identification errors.

Yes. You can configure up to four versions per exam, each with its own answer key. A version identifier field on the answer sheet (either a bubble the student fills in or a pre-printed code) tells the scanner which key to apply. The system grades each version against its correct key and produces combined results. Post-exam analysis includes cross-version difficulty comparison so you can verify that all versions were equivalently difficult.

After every batch, the module calculates four metrics per question: difficulty index (percentage of students who answered correctly), discrimination index (whether strong students outperformed weak students on that item), distractor effectiveness (how many students chose each wrong answer), and point-biserial correlation (how well the question predicted overall exam performance). Department chairs use these reports to retire poorly performing questions, rewrite confusing distractors, calibrate difficulty levels, and balance section weighting for the next exam cycle. Data accumulates over semesters, building an evidence-based item bank.
