Yes. You configure signing workflows as sequential, parallel, conditional, or a combination of these. For example, an admission acceptance form can route first to the student, then to a parent or guardian, then to a financial responsibility contact, each signer receives the document only after the previous signer completes their portion. Alternatively, all parties can sign simultaneously when order does not matter. You can also set up conditional routing where the next signer depends on the previous signer's response.

The module supports five authentication methods: email verification (a link sent to the signer's verified email address), SMS one-time codes (a code texted to their phone), knowledge-based authentication (security questions), institutional SSO login, and ID verification integration for high-stakes documents. You choose the authentication level per template. A field trip permission slip might require only email verification, while a scholarship agreement worth $40,000 might require SMS code plus knowledge-based verification.

You configure automatic reminders at intervals, for example, three days, five days, and seven days after sending. If the signer still has not responded, the system can escalate to a designated person such as a department chair or enrollment counselor. Documents can also be set to expire after a configurable period, at which point the sender is notified. All reminder and escalation actions are logged in the audit trail, so you have a record of every attempt to collect the signature.

E-Signature shares the same database as every other OpenEduCat module. When an admission decision changes a student's status to admitted, the system can automatically generate and send the offer letter for signing. When HR creates a new employee record, FERPA forms and employment contracts trigger without manual intervention. Signed documents attach to the relevant student or employee record, visible alongside their enrollment data, academic history, or personnel file.

OpenEduCat's E-Signature module does not charge per document or per signature. The module license covers unlimited signing volume. This is different from standalone e-signature vendors that charge $1 to $3 per envelope sent, which adds up quickly when an institution sends 1,600 admission packets, 2,000 permission slips, 200 employment contracts, and hundreds of policy acknowledgments each year. Your cost is the module license, not a variable fee that grows with document volume.
